No.029 American Wigeon Anas americana L=48cm Rank : 4
Winter Visitor

American Wigeon in flight resembles Eurasian Wigeon, but, with its large green patch from eye to hind neck, it looks considerably different from Eurasian Wigeon. Since some wigeons have green patches from eye to hind neck, to indicate some crossings. This species is believed to breed in North America, and passes the winter in the middle and southern parts of North America; although Japan is way far out of their regular migratory flight paths, a very limited number visits here.
