Passage Migrant
In Asakawa River Basin, the species is observed mainly in May and August; in May on its way heading north to breeding ground, while stopping over in August on its way back to Southeast Asia and Australia for wintering. Although the species visits Asakawa River regularly, we come across the bird only for a short period of time. They are usually found in a group from several to more than a dozen birds here. Easily found by its diagnostic call "pyuee pyuee."
