Among sandpipers and plovers at Asakawa River, the bird can be seen through the year like Long-billed Plover. Somber olive-brown back, white on lower breast curves around bend of wing; constantly bobs the tail up and down in teetering motion. Usually observed along sluggish streams, but sometimes perches on branches during breeding season. Distinctive white wing bars in flight.
