Winter Visitor
Most common species among snipe family in Asakawa River basin. A winter visitor to this area, usually seen from October to April next year. Although similar species like Lathamfs Snipe and Eurasian Woodcock are also recorded, they are very rare in Asakawa River basin.
As the species is quiet-coloured and usually keeps itself still, it can be easily overlooked. With its very long bill, forages in the mud of rice stubble fields, marshes and riversides.
