|The species is
known to fly to Terugasaki Beach at Oiso, some 68 kilometers(42 miles) in
the southwest of Tokyo, to drink seawater. In the Asakawa River basin, the
bird has been occasionally observed among trees on Mt. Takao and Mt. Jimba,
but the number is limited. A characteristic ah oh ah oh voice sometimes
reveals the birdfs presence.
Yellowish-green plumage on crown and upperparts; white belly; broad black streaks on greenish-white flanks. Malefs wing coverts has chestnut color part, while female has no chestnut color on wings – an identifying mark.
