No.464 Japanese Bush Warbler Cettia diphone

L=14`15.5cm

Rank : 1
Resident
Although its song, distinctive whistle followed by loud hot-ket-kyot, is commonly known, not many people have seen the real bird; in fact some people erroneously view Japanese White-eye as Japanese Bush Warbler, because White-eyefs color of plumage is sometimes called guguisu-colored,hmeaning gBush-warbler-colored, or olive-green-coloredh in Japanese.
The Bush Warblerfs song in breeding season is so impressive that not many people recognize the bird as a resident who inhabits all year round. Its call in winter is repeated chick-chuck in lowland with bushes. Its song and call note are so different by season that it is hardly imaginable to think they are of the same bird.
