Winter Visitor
Common winter visitor to open lowland woods and riverbeds of Asakawa River basin. Visiting period is approximately between November and April next year. Looks similar to Meadow Bunting, but the speciesf Male has black crown and whitish underparts in summer plumage, and chestnut back streaked black. Upperparts of Male stronger reddish brown than Meadow Bunting.@Femalefs plumage is more light-coloured than Malefs winter plumage. (Juvenile malefs plumage is similar to Femalefs.)  Both Male and Female have distinctive short crest. Feed on the ground in a flock of several to more than a dozen.
