No.624 Black-faced Bunting Emberiza spodocephala

L=16cm

Rank : 2
Winter Visitor
The bird is a winter visitor at Asakawa River basin, while the species breeds in some hill districts, Tohoku district and Hokkaido. Accordingly, we do not hear the birdfs call here – we hear only a short tzit or tzee rumbling. The rumbling of Meadow Bunting is chi-chi, which can be distinguished from that of Black-faced Bunting.
At Asakawa River basin, the bird is usually seen from late October to the beginning of March next year.
