The bird is a winter visitor at Asakawa River basin, while the species
breeds in some hill districts, Tohoku district and Hokkaido. Accordingly, we
do not hear the bird’s call here – we hear only a short
tzee rumbling. The rumbling of
Meadow Bunting is chi-chi, which
can be distinguished from that of Black-faced Bunting.
At Asakawa River basin, the bird is usually seen from late October to the beginning of March next year.
