Winter Visitor
Winter visitor in Asakawa River basin. Forages in reedbeds in dry riverbeds for worms in stalks. Can be spotted with the sounds of its splitting off reeds, or with its distinct up-ending tzween call. Black hood in summer, but in winter when the bird visits here male and female look similar without the black hood.
