A common resident in Asakawa River Basin that can be seen all year round.  According to the records of our monthly bird count being conducted in 20 Asakawa River Basin sites, the bird ranks second to Tree Sparrow in sighting numbers.@Sighting numbers seem to increase in winter when the bird gathers in crowds. Male is greenish brown with greenish head and dark lore, while Femalefs head is grey-brown and the whole plumage is of a lighter colour. Call note is gKiriri, Kororoh, and song gdjeeen, djuweee or dzweeeh is heard during breeding period.@A bright yellow band in feathers is obvious during flight.
