No.569 Eurasian Tree Sparrow Passer montanus

L=14.5cm

Rank : 1
Resident
Most familiar wild bird in Japan since early times, and, according to our research, the species ranks first in the number of birds observed in Asakawa River basin. Our general investigation of winter birds made in January 2011 recorded a total of 1,643 tree sparrows at all observation points together. Although the species rarely attracts attention because of its abundant number, it has a rather nice colour combination. Breeds near the areas of human habitation and deftly takes advantage of all available human life resources.
