No.901 Chinese Bumboo Partridge Bambusicola thoracicus

Rank : 2
Introduced (Resident)
Introduced in Tokyo and Kanagawa from China in 1919. The species makes its habitat throughout the year, and we hear its loud call pi pi quee from time to time in Asakawa River basin. However, since the species remains mainly in underbush, it is rarely seen in the open.  Male and Female are almost alike, but Male can be distinguished from Female with its spurs.
